When I was seven years old, my family created an ant farm. First, we put clean sand in a thin glass box. Then we waited for the ants to arrive.
After the ants were in the glass arm, they started to make tunnels. I was amazed that each one knew exactly what to do. Each had its own job.
On the fifth day a tragedy (悲剧) happened. I put my face so close to the glass farm that I knocked it over. All the tunnels fell down. Although the ants remained alive after their earthquake, one by one they began to die. I was scared as I watched them give up their tunnel-building to carry the bodies to a corner of the farm.
My mother said that the ants were dying of sadness. They simply could not stand that their tunnels were gone.
Although much time has passed, I still think of that ant farm. Mom had hoped it would teach me about the natural world, but it taught me much more.
Over the years, I came to realize the importance of teamwork. Working together, the ants were able to make am amazing world for themselves. I also learned that they should be admired for their hard work.
But there was an even larger lesson that I did not realize until recently: Adversity(逆境) is natural part of life, and must be accepted. Unlike the ants, we cannot give up when we are sad. We have to realize that if a tunnel is gone, we must build another.
Giving up, I say, is not a good choice.

A. Working together is useless. B. Teamwork is important.
C. He can?t accept adversity. D. working alone is amazing.
61. What is the best title for the passage?

Imagine the situation. You are driving along a desert or on a
mountain. You have no idea where you are. You passed the last house
two hours ago. Then your car breaks down. It is night and it is cold. You
have no mobile phone. What do you do? Well, next time take a GPS
with you. This invention may be able to help you. It is a device(装置)
which uses satellites (卫星) to find the user?s position(位置). It can find
your position to within 20 metres. A GPS cannot start your car, but at
least you will know where you are.
GPS, which means Global Positioning System, is a small radio receiver. It looks like a mobile phone. You can hold it in your hand, or put in your pocket. It is sometimes put into a watch or a telephone. We also find GPS devices in cars, planes, or boats. Some of these devices have electronic maps, so you know where you are. For example, in a city they can tell you the name of the street.
There are three parts to the Global Positioning System. The first part is the receiver. You can hold it in your hand, or have it fixed into your car, plane, etc. The second part is a group of satellites orbiting the Earth. The receiver contacts at least four of the satellites and calculates(计算) its position. The third part of the system is a network of ground stations. Some people think that in the future the GPS will be as common as the mobile. They are becoming cheaper and more and more accurate(精确的). There are also new uses for the GPS. Sue and Jim were neighbours for five years but they were never interested in
each other. Then one day, Sue saw Jim?s music collection. She noticed a rare punk
rock CD that she also owned. At that moment, she realized that they both had the
same interest in music and they started talking. Sue said, “I thought we had
nothing in common（相同）until I saw his CD by the New York Dolls.” They are
now married and living with each other.
Some psychologists (心理学家) think that your taste in music is related to (有联系的) your personality. As part of a test at the University of Texas, Austin, USA, volunteers created a CD of their favourite songs. The volunteers then listened to each other?s CDs and made guesses about the CD creator?s personality—outgoing, adventurous, happy, and so on. These strangers correctly guessed much more about each others? personalities through their CDs than through their clothes or taste in films. For example, Sue and Jim love punk music, which means they have outgoing personalities.
The psychologists who did the test found Snoop Dogg (hip-hop) fans are likely to be energetic and talkative. People who like U2 (rock/pop music) are generally independent and adventurous.
The psychologists also found that Louis Armstrong(jazz) fans tend to(倾向于) be shy. The psychologists were surprised to find that rap and heavy metal fans were also shier and quieter

Hello, everyone! I think TV has both advantages and disadvantages. Watching TV can make us happy and relaxed. It helps us get the latest information, know about the world and learn more knowledge. But it?s bad for our eyes to watch too much TV. If we spend too much time on TV, we will not have enough time to study. Some TV programmes are boring and even some have a bad effect on teenagers. So I think when we are tired or very free, we should watch some interesting TV programmes but never watch too much. That?s all. Thank you!
