Step1 Warm-up

1. Greetings.

2. Review.

Review the letters, words and expressions learnt in the last unit. T: What’s this in English?

Ss: It’s a/an…

Step2 Lead-in

1. Listen and sing the alphabet song.

2. Ask Ss to look at the screen and present them some colorful pictures. Play a guessing game.

T: What’s this?

Ss: It’s …

T: What color is it?

S: It’s …

Repeat the same questions and then get students to answer. Students repeat after the teacher one by one until they know every color in the picture. Explain the language points.

Step 2 1a Presentation

1. Write the new words of color on the blackboard .Show some pictures.

2. Ask students to open the books and turn to page s9, ask students to pay attention to the new letters in the balloons.

3. Ask students to look at the picture and write the letter for each color.

4. Check answers . Students read the letters and words after teacher. Step3 1b Listen and repeat

Play the tape the first time, ask students to close their books and to listen carefully. Then play the tape again, students should repeat.

Step 4 Pair work

1. Ask some students to read the conversations in 1a ,then students read the conversations together.

2. Show some colorful letters on the screen, then ask students make their

own conversations about the letters.

3. Invite some pairs to act out for the whole class.

Step 5 2a Listen and repeat

1. T: Last week, we had learned some letters. Who can tell us the letters we have learned?

Ss: A, B, C……….

T: Very good. Today we’ll learn some other letters.

2. Ask students to look at the picture in 1a and find the new letters.

3. Ask students to pay attention to 2a , then listen to the teacher carefully and read after the teacher. Students should read loudly.

4. Then play the tape, ask students to listen and repeat.

Step 6 2b: Listen and number the letters you hear

1. Students listen to the tape carefully and then write down the number according to the tape.

2. Check the answers.

Step7 2c&2d: Look and copy

1. Students look and watch carefully, and then ask them to follow the teacher and write down Ss-Zz on the exercise books. Let the students know the differences between the big letters and the small letters.

2. Students write the missing big letter or small letter for each pair in 2d.

3. Check the answers.

Step 8 2e: Talk about what these letters mean




Step 9 Summary

Let the students show what they have learnt in this class.

Step10 Homework

1. Copy the letters Ss-Zz and new words and try to remember them.

2. Finish the guidance case.

3. Preview the next period.
