The Changes in My Hometown
In the past, my hometown was very small. People lived a poor life and they lived in old broken houses. It was cold in winter even when they were inside the houses. The pollution was serious. Rubbish could be seen everywhere on the ground. The transport was very inconvenient so few tourists came to visit it.
Luckily, things have completely changed these years. People have moved in big and bright houses. Many of them have their own cars. The environment has been improved. For example, the hills are greener, rivers are cleaner and the sky is bluer. Smiles can be often seen on people’s faces. Thousands of visitors from all over the world come to visit my hometown every year. The beautiful scenery makes a deep impression on them.
I think my hometown will be even better in the future. I hope you can visit it one day.
April 8 Sunday Fine
Today the students of our class made a bike trip to a small town by the Taihu Lake.
We set out early in the morning. The wind blew gently and we felt excited for the outing. We 1
arrived at the small town after two hours’ ride. Then we visited some local places of interest. The tourist guide told us some interesting stories about those places. At lunch time, we had a picnic by a river near the town. We were all attracted by the beautiful scenery there. While we were sharing the delicious food, we were chatting happily with each other. In the afternoon, some classmates went fishing, others flew kites on grassland. During the trip, boys helped girls a lot, especially with heavy things.
What a pleasant day we had! Though all of us were tired after the trip, we felt happy. We can’t wait to go on a school trip next time.
I wish to be an exchange student in Australia this summer vacation. My name is Sara.
I am 15 now. I am a Chinese girl from Junior 3, No.1 Middle School. I study hard at school. English and music are my favorite subjects, and I am good at them. In my spare time, I like collecting stamps and listening to music. I have collected over 1,000 stamps and 100 CDs.
I hope I can be an exchange student in Australia. It is a lovely country with many sorts of wonderful wild animals, for example, kangaroos. There are also lots of beautiful buildings like Sydney Opera Theatre. How I wish to see them with my own eyes! Most importantly, I want to improve my English and make new friends there. I believe I can benefit a lot from the exchange program.
Please consider my application and give me a chance to see the world. Thanks a million. Yours,
Have you seen the hit family cartoon of 2009, Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf? It is a very interesting cartoon! The story is about seven lovely goats and two wolves called Grey Wolf and Red Wolf. In the film, Grey Wolf often wants to eat the goats. He uses many ways to catch the goats, but the goats are much smarter than him. As a result, he fails again and again.
My favourite character is Grey Wolf. He is cute although he is ugly. He is very smart but his ideas always get foiled by Pleasant Goat. When he fails, he always says, “I will get my revenge, you goat!” He always makes us laugh.
The film is very funny and most children love it. Parents can watch it together with their children too. Besides, it made a lot of money after it was on. After seeing it, it will certainly make a deep impression on you! Don’t miss it if you haven’t seen it.
5. 关于“pocket money”
Most of the students in our class have some pocket money every month. How do they spend the pocket money? The students in our group did a survey last week in the class and here are the results.
About 45% of the students spend their pocket money on books and other school things. They are really very hard-working. Over 25% of them spend the money in playing computer games, especially boys. Maybe they are too addicted to computer games, I think. 15% of them like buying snacks with their pocket money, because they love snacks. Some of them even save up the money for breakfast to buy more snacks. I don’t think it’s good for their health. The rest of students usually save up their pocket money in banks.
In my opinion, we should spend the pocket money properly, not only for school things, but also for some entertainment.
6. 关于“generation gap”
Is there a generation gap between you and your parents? Maybe many of you will answer “Yes”. Luckily, my parents and I get on well with each other. How do we achieve this? Here are my suggestions.
First, parents should spare more time for their children. Nowadays, many parents are too busy to spend some time with their kids. They stay at the offices doing their jobs and come home late. They don’t have much time to talk, to play and to read to their children. It is not good. My parents try their best to return home after work, and we share a lot of happy moments together.
Second, children should have better understanding of their parents. Some children complain that their parents care only about their homework at home, and they are fed up with this. In fact, their parents are concerned about their future. I always finish my homework well and I try my best to do well at school. As a result, my parents never bother me about studies, because they know I am doing my best all the time.
If you have any problems with your parents, you can talk to them in a good way. They will be surprised that you have grown up. They will be willing to listen to you and you can understand each other better.
