Is it a problem for you to get along well with your parents? I f your answer is “Yes”, you may have the same feeling with me. When I was young, I did not get along well with my parents because I thought they were too strict with me. They did not let me do anything but study. We often quarreled and I often lost my temper. From it, I learned a very important lesson that I must try to find a suitable way to communicate with my parents.
When I was in middle school, I did not study very hard and I spent most of the time playing computer games. My parents were very unhappy and they tried to help me and cheered me up but I did not listen to them. In my heart, my parents were the monarch type of parents and they were intolerant, autocratic. They made rules in the family for me to observe. So, I just ignore them and did not talk with them .
It was Saturday, I asked my parents if I could go to my friend’s birthday party. As usual, they said no and I had expected that, after all they wanted me stay at home all weekends. I really wanted to go to that party because I was tired of studying at home. So I quarreled with them and left home without saying anything. I spent the whole night outside.
Next day, when I came home, I found that the door was open and my parents just siting on the sofa. They were waiting for me and I noticed that my mom’s eyes were red. At that moment,I realized that I made the biggest mistake of my life. What I did
was too immature and I was very ungrateful. I apologized to them and had a deep communication with them. Then, my mom gave me a hug and I felt we were never that close before.
Since then, I made up my mind that I must show more respect to my parents and communicate with them in a more efficient way. Family was very important for everyone and it was universally true that all parents loved their children. But, as their views of life vary, they showed their love in different ways. So, even though my parents were strict with me, it did not mean they didn’t love. In fact, they loved more than anyone else in the world.
