TAKING an after-school class gives you a head start in high school. But, if it means walking home every day, even in rain or snow, would you do it?
I did. I took part in an after-school Spanish class. Since it was after school, no school buses were there to take me home, so I had to find transportation myself. My parents work out of town, so they couldn’t pick me up.
At first I hated the walk because of the long distance. But after a few months, I got used to it and it became part of my daily routine (日常任务), like getting dressed and brushing my teeth. And I began to enjoy it. I got to see things like birds flying and trees changing color. A few times I saw something very special, like a small snake near the sidewalk, or two cars that came very close to crashing (相撞)!
Many of my classmates also noticed what I did. Once, a girl in my class asked her mother to drive me home because it was raining outside and I didn’t have an umbrella. Some people who I didn’t know even offered me a ride because they thought it was too cold out.
People always think walking long distances is difficult. Modern technology (技术) makes common things, like walking, seem difficult. Many people, like myself, live in the suburbs (郊区) and are close to nature, but also far away from it because of technology.

What is your favorite color? Do you like yellow, orange and red? If you do, you must be a person full of happy feelings about life. Do you like grey and blue? Then maybe you are quiet, and you would like to go after than go before. And sometimes you feel unhappy. If you love green, you are strong-minded. You wish to do everything well. This is what psychologists(心理学家)tell us.
A yellow room makes us feel happier and more comfortable than a green one; and a red dress brings warmth and gladness to the saddest winter day. Light and bright colors make people happier and more active. Factory workers will work better and harder when their machines are painted orange rather
than black or grey.
Remember then , if you feel blue, you can always brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or a few colorful things. Remember that you’ll know your friends better if you find out what colors they like and dislike, And don’t forget that anyone can learn something about you when you choose something in different colors.
