定语从句:在复合句中,修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。 在定语从句中,被定语从句修饰的词叫先行词,引导定语从句的词叫关系代词,当关系代词作宾语时,常省略。

eg:I like music (that) I can dance to.

先行词 关系代词 定语从句

1)that引导的定语从句,其前面的名词可以是表示人物,也可以是表 2

示物的。

eg: The man that is waiting outside is our math teacher. 在外面等着的那个人是我们的数学老师。

All the books that are on English study belong to me. 所有那些关于英语学习的书都是我的。

2)Who 之前的名词一定是表示人的名词

eg: I love singers who write their own music.

3) that和who 在定语从句中可以作主语,也可以做宾语。 eg: Do you know the man who is talking with our Chinese teacher?(who在从句中作主语)

导学 kind 为名词,意为“种类、类型”

eg: a kind of 一种 all kinds of 各种各样的

拓展 kind 还可作形容词,意为“和蔼的;亲切的”。

词组be kind to…对…友好

导学 prefer动词,意为“更喜欢”,相当于like better

eg: I prefer A to B = like A better than B

喜欢A更胜过B。A与B是平行结构,均为名词或者动名词。 比起B更喜欢A。

eg: I prefer coffee to tea. 比起茶来,更喜欢咖啡。

She prefers singing to dancing.

拓展2 prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.

= would rather do sth than do sth. 宁愿做某事而不愿做某事 eg:I prefer to call her rather than write to her.

(二)进一步学习定语从句

1.当关系代词在定语从句中作宾语时,that, which或who可省略;但有介词在前时,不能省略;先行词为物时,只能用which;先行词为人时,只能用whom。 eg: I know the movie about which you talked last night. This is the teacher with whom your mother chatted the other day.

2.Who/ that 在定语从句中作定语时,定语从句中的谓语动词的单复数应与定语从句所修饰的名词保持一致。

eg:I like books that are interesting.

(三) 语言学习

导学1 remind 是动词,意为“提醒”;remind sb of … 使某人想起… =make sb, remember…

拓展 ①remind sb, that 从句 提醒某人某事 ②remind sb, to do sth. 提醒某人去做某事

导学2 one 指上句提到的同类事物中的一个。

辨析:one, it

二者都是指示代词,但指代的事物不同。It指代上文提到的同一事物。 eg:—Whose the blue bag?

—It is mine. (it 指问句中的the blue bag)

(四)进一步学习定语从句(三)

1.被定语从句修饰的名词,即先行词是物时,既可用which,也可用that.但如果先行词是指物,又是不定代词,或被形容词最高级、序数词,a little, only 等修饰时,关系代词只用that,不用which。that 在定语从句中作宾词可省略。

Eg.①Is there anything (that) I can do for you?

②The first thing (that) we should do is to help him.

③Look, the tallest animal that is drinking water is an elephant.

2. 被定语从句修饰的名词既有人又有物时,只能用that. Eg. The boy and the dog that are running on the road look very

happy.
