Let’s Celebrate Dokdo Day! [1,2年级] 第 8 期

Without a doubt, Dokdo is Korean

territory. Many Korean people are

working hard to let the world

know that Dokdo is our territory.

On October 25 every year, we

mark Dokdo Day. How much do you know about the Dokdo Islets? Follow me and learn about it ! When was Dokdo Day made? The

Dokdo Guards set it in 2000. In 2010, it was officially established as a national memorial day. It aims at taking a stronger measure to protect Korean sovereignty over the islets. Dokdo belongs to Ulleung-gun,

North Gyeongsang province. It is located on the eastern edge of Korea. It is now Natural Monument No. 336. There are many reasons why Dokdo is Korean territory, including the historical fact that from 512 AD, Usanguk was merged into the Silla Kingdom as Korean territory.

The U.N. Forces also recognized Dokdo as being Korean territory in

1950. Sadly, Japanese people continue to insist that Dokdo is theirs.
