Unit8 At the weekends (Part A )第二课时说课稿 090405 Good afternoon, teachers. I am honored to be here to show my class presentation. Today my topic is Unit8 At the weekends in 5B Book and I will talk about the second period—part A.
This unit focuses on asking about others’ weekends activities. The Ss have learnt part B and part E in the first period, that means they are familiar with the words about insects and the relevant phrases, such as an ant, a butterfly and catch butterflies. So, in the second period, Ss are required to learn the words and some phrases, such as of course, weekends, spend, often, sometimes, learn from and so on. And the sentence patterns of part A will be dealt with. What’s more important, the Ss’ horizon and knowledge will be broadened and expanded.
According to the analysis above, I confirm the teaching aims and demands of this lesson as follows:
1. As for Knowledge Objectives: the Ss are required to master these words and phrases skillfully and the Ss can learn and understand these sentence patterns: How do you spend your weekends? I often/ Sometimes I…/How does he/she spend his/her weekends? He/She often/Sometimes he/she…
2. As for Ability Objectives: the Ss can correctly use the sentence patterns to talk with others about weekends.
3. As for Emotional Objectives: the Ss can be developed the spirit of team work and the Ss’ are required have an optimistic attitude to life.
In my opinion, the teaching key point is the use of the sentence patterns. And the difficult point is the use of the third person singular form of the verb.
To realize my teaching aims and demands successfully, I’ll use the following Teaching Methods: Task-based Teaching Method Communicative Teaching Method and Cooperative Learning Method. Considering the Ss are very active and energetic, I’ll also choose Gaming Teaching Method.
To help the Ss master the knowledge more efficiently. I’ll talk about my teaching procedures from three aspects: pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading. Here comes pre-reading, it includes step1&step2.
Step1: warm up
① Play a game ‘Of course, I do.’
First, we’ll play a game that is ‘of course, I do’, I’ll focus on the pronunciation of the phrase ‘of course’, and let the Ss know it has the same meaning of ‘sure’, then I’ll use several questions, such as: ‘Do you like dragonflies/ants/bees? Do you catch butterflies? Do you have any hobbies?’ to ask the Ss. And
if they want to give a positive response they can stand up and say ‘Of course, I do.’
(This game can improve the Ss’ passion and review the words in part B, meanwhile the new phrase ‘of course’ in part A can be presented.)
② Free talk
After playing this game, we will have a free talk that is ‘What do you usually do on Saturdays and Sundays?’
I’ll choose one Ss to say something about it at first, and then I’ll ask another Ss ‘What does he/she usually do on Saturdays and Sundays?’
(For one thing this free talk is related today’s topic ‘weekends activities’ and the Ss are willing to talk about it, for another, the third person singular form of the verb can be practiced.)
Step2: presentation and practice
① Teach the word ‘weekends’ and the phrases ‘learn
Just now, the Ss talked about their activities on Saturdays and Sundays, so I’ll also say something about it that is I usually read books at the weekends. To let the Ss know the meaning of the word ‘weekends’, I’ll write this on the blackboard (weekends=Saturdays + Sundays). At the same time, I’ll reveal the title ‘At the weekends’ and the Ss are required to read it. Then I’ll tell them I like reading books. I learn a lot from it. And ask them ‘Do you like reading books?’to guide them answer me ‘Of course, I do.’ And I’ll simply explain the meaning of the phrase ‘learn from’.
②Teach the sentence patterns: How do you spend you weekends? I often/ Sometimes I
I’ll go on talking about‘weekends activities’, so the sentence patterns ‘How do you spend you weekends ’will be presented on PPT, and I’ll also show these two words:‘pen’ and ‘Ben’ on PPT to let the Ss read the word ‘spend’, then I’ll make an example that is I often read books. Sometimes I watch TV to lead in its answer. And I’ll ask several Ss how do they spend their weekends? to practice it. In order to distinguish ‘often’ and ‘sometimes’, I’
And I’d like to make an example like this: ‘Mary goes shopping four times a week and goes to the cinema two times a week, so I’ll reach a conclusion that is ‘She often goes shopping, sometimes she goes to the
cinema. Then I’ll show a picture of Liu Tao on PPT and the whole class slowly ‘ How does he spend his weekends? The answer is ‘He often plays football, sometimes he watches cartoons. And then I’ll show some pictures on PPT to let the Ss practice the sentence patterns ‘How does he/she spend his/her weekends?’
Next comes while-reading, it includes one step:
Step3: Read and say
In this step, I’ll deal with the dialogue in details. I’ll prepare 4 tasks for the Ss
In Task1, I’ll show a picture of our friends on PPT, then they are required to listen to the forewords and answer my question:
1. What day is it today?
2. What are they doing?
(And I’ll focus on the meaning the phrase ‘talk about’)
② Task2: Detailed reading
In Task2, I’ll let the Ss watch the cartoon of part A to get the general idea to answer my question that is ‘What does Wang Bing and Mike like?
(According to their answer, I’ll explain the word ‘sport’, such as playing basketball and going climbing, we can call them sport.)
And I’ll also let the Ss do ‘T’ or ‘F’, for example:
1. Helen often does her homework at the weekends.
2. Su Hai often goes to the park at the weekends.
Then I’ll let the Ss watch the cartoon again to check the answer.
③ Task3: Finish the form
(I’ll make the form on the blackboard)
(The Ss can have a group discussion to find out the answers in the passage and underline.)
The last is post-reading, it includes Step4 & Step5.
In Task 1, the Ss are required to act out the dialogue according to my blackboard design.
( So that the Ss can be more familiar with the dialogue.)
In Task 2, the Ss are asked to use the sentence patterns to make
a dialogue about theirs and their family members’ weekends activities and act it out with their partners.
( on the basis of using these sentence patterns, the Ss can be developed the spirit of team work ,their speaking skills will be improved, and they will be guided to have a meaningful weekends. So I’ll let the Ss know that we shouldn’t waste time and we should do something meaningful, reading books and doing some sports are good choices.)
① Read the whole dialogue after class
② Finish the dialogue in Part C
Thank you for your listening, you can appreciate my blackboard design.
