Part I : warming (1.1) People will travel by flying car. “will + 动词原形” 表示将 来 Practice:

1. The teacher ________ will give (give) us a
lecture tomorrow morning.

2. The students in Wenchuan ________ will come
(come) to our school next week.

3. The workers will ________ build (build) a
house for the homeless child next month. 4. The bus _________ will carry ( carry ) more people in the future.

Part I : warming (1.1)
Ways of shopping: in the past

People used to go to shops or markets to buy things. They took a lot of money with them. It was very dangerous.

Ways of shopping: at the present

People still go to shops or super markets to buy things. But they don’t have to take a lot of money. They may take their cards. People also can buy things through the Internet.

Ways of shopping: in the future

People will buy all their daily things on the Internet. No money will be used then. They will just stay at home and everything they order will be sent home.

Ways of lighting: in the past

People used candles or torches to light their rooms.

Ways of lighting: at the present

People use electric lamps to light their

rooms.

Ways of lighting: in the future

People will use man-made suns and man-made moons to light the dark sky.

Part two: read and choose. (1.2) Read the text and choose an appropriate heading for each paragraph. 1. I think this will change in some ways. People will buy basic things -------I mean things for everyday life----- on the Internet. But for buying something special like a gift or some new clothes people will still go to stores.

Part two: read and choose. (1.2) Read the text and choose an appropriate heading for each paragraph. 2. There will be changes here. People won’t buy CDs and DVDs anymore. They will download music and movies onto their own computers from the Internet. However, some things will stay the same. For example, people will still go to the theatre to watch a play or to see a concert. That won’t change.

Language focuses. 1. in the future在将来(不包含现在) There will be real man-like robots in the future 将 来会有和真人一样的机器人。 in future 今后(从现在开始) I will listen to the teacher carefully in class in future. 今后我要在课上认真听老师讲课。

2. not …any more 不再 I won’t go to the cinema any more. 我不会再去看电影了。 3. However, some things will stay the same.但是, 有些事情是不变的。 stay(系动词),后接名词或表状态的形 容词。 The weather stayed cold all week. 一星期天都很冷。

The lecture is on how to stay healthy. 讲座的话题是如何保持健康。 Nothing stays the same for long. 什么都不能一成不变。 注意区分: last (v.持续),后接表示时间段 的词语。 The cold weather lasted a week. 寒冷的天气持续了一周。 The meeting lasted four hours. 会议持续了4小时。

4. People will still travel to popular holiday places such as beaches or the mountains. 人们还是要去度假旅游胜 地, 诸如海滩、大山等地游览。 such as 诸如, 例如, 表示列举。 They grow a lot of flowers in the garden, such as roses, tulips, lilies and so on. 他们在花园种了许多花,如玫瑰、郁 金香、百合等。
